Claire Garner

Claire began her career as a therapist earning a graduate degree in clinical mental health counseling with a specialization in play therapy from Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN. Since then, she has worked with children as young as three all the way up to older adults in their seventies presenting with a wide range of concerns.

Claire uses a client-centered approach for all ages which prioritizes the counseling relationship; one that fosters safety and trust. She incorporates expressive arts into therapy such as sandtray, drawing, and music which can be beneficial for tweens, teens, and adults. Claire specializes in using these interventions with those struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, family & relationship issues, and life transitions.

One of Claire’s main specialties is providing play therapy to children ages 3-10. Claire utilizes the evidence-based treatment modality designed for children called Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT). Claire values parents/caregivers as partners in helping their children limit problem behaviors and tap into their potential. CCPT can be beneficial for children who have experienced a variety of issues, such as trauma, worry, sadness, anger, family struggles, inattention, outbursts, defiance, and school-related issues.
